My ] deck won first game as he didn't know the pirates from rivals, 2nd game I locked him out for 12 rounds then lost to a board wipe. My ] deck was one turn off winning when he combo'd off with ], ] and ]. Note that as a competitive commander he will not be sliver tribal. If you want to play 'slivers' in cedh, you play this guy. I need a deck that can win against slivers and in 1 vs 1 game play.Īfter not playing with him since he introduced me to magic in September, we played multiple games over 6 hrs so he could playtest his new list. The First Sliver - Probably worse than Overlord for sliver tribal, but also has much more competitive build using Food Chain. As a result, they dont fare well 1vs 1 against his deck. My decks are all tuned for fun play in a LGS, to be competitive but not oppressive. Sliver Tribal can be fun, but not with Overlord at the helm. In a 4 man game, I dont think his deck will do well at all, but he only plays 1 v 1. I would recommend shying away from Overlord tbh. While I have a cEDH glass cannon that wins on 4 without fail, I prefer not to play it much if at all. He plays 40 lands and drops a land every turn without fail. From there, he craps out enough random slivers to turn sideways for the win. While it had maybe 2-3 tutor effects it had way more card draw. Slivers in EDH is harder to pull off due to the key to slivers being 'quantity over quality' and EDH metagame being a 'quality over quantity game'. He plays ], tutors for slivers that give haste, mana, and shroud. As a sliver player, I have the exact opposite of this experience. Hes literally spent the last 6 months tuning just the one deck. It's pretty much a tuned toolbox EDH sliver deck that wins on turn 7 or 8. The guy who introduced me to magic in September 2017 has an EDH Sliver Overlord deck.
